Solar Bloom is a cosmic simulation arcade rogue-like in which you play as a lone Star, trying to create and maintain a solar system for as long as you can. Choose one of three stars, manage your resources, make crucial sacrifices and try to obtain as high a score as possible. Good luck!

Controls:

  • Left Click - shoot a solar flare and destroy asteroids or planets, although you might want to avoid that :)
  • Right Click - use a solar wind to pull planets closer to your orbit (and even in yourself for some sweet bonuses), or asteroids to create new planets
  • Scroll Wheel - zoom in/out
  • Arrow keys, A, B - a certain company's code :)

I Clicked multiple times in send score (under the name “rav”), and it registered the score multiple times.

Hmm, weird, the button should be disabled once you click it once. I'll look into this

congrats on honorable mention!

Thanks! :)

It's cute. I love the music, it gives very FTL vibes! I don't really get what the "ab-" reference is. I presume ABC, but arrow keys and typing doesn't seem to do anything? Also I think you need to preload the planet scenes as there's a lag every time a planet spawns for me.

Good job :)

You should hear a boop sound when you type the correct sequence for the Konami code (UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT , RIGHT, B, A)
It will give you god mode so you won't lose hydrogen and helium.

We do actually preload all the planets, but I think the shader might take some time to randomize the planet so it can be slightly laggy at times, especially in the browser.

Thanks so much for your words :) I made the music, and I'm so glad you liked it. You're right, FTL was one of the inspirations for the soundtrack!
